ICMP - Destination Unreachable Message Analysis
Host unreachable – This means that the host that you are trying to ping is down or is not operating on the network. Request Timed Out – The ping command timed out because there was no reply from the host or the destination host is down. Resolve Ping Command Destination Host Unreachable response message: Step 1: Check if your Android device screen is off, when android devices screen turns off or sleeps, it stops a number of services as it thinks the user is not active. Ping your phone or device while it’s screen is on or active. If this does not resolve the issue follow step 2. A ping response of "Destination Host Unreachable" is a solid indicator that there's a Default Gateway misconfiguration on the initiating PC.A ping response of "Request timed out" could suggest a Default Gateway misconfiguration, but lower-layer (L1/L2) issues could also be in play. If, in the destination host, the IP module cannot deliver the datagram because the indicated protocol module or process port is not active, the destination host may send a destination unreachable message to the source host. The point which I don't understand is that, on PC1, I can ping the google.com, 192.168.10.254 (gateway of my physical network) and 192.168.10.166 (IP of R1 interface), however I can NOT ping the 192.168.10.231 which is the IP of my physical computer which has the interface enp2s0f2, like below: I have tried giving the VM a manual IP (192.168.0.126) in the same range as the host(192.168.0.127) but doing that I can not access the internet from the VM. Trying to ping google.com I get 'Name or service not known' and trying to ping 8.8.8.8 I get Destination Host Unreachable.

Destination Host Unreachable - Verizon Fios Community Switch does not have an ip address. Yes computers behind the switch can access the router (192.168.1.1). I send ping packets to the global DNS address 4.2.2.2 from your computer. yes i can ping 192.168.56.101. for 8.8.4.4 i can not reach the destination host. so the problem is internet access.
